The colon has been referred to as “the sewer system of the body.” Your colon, or large intestine, is one part of your digestive system. From your mouth to your anus, you have one long hollow tube that takes in food, digests it and eliminates it. Your colon, the last part of this tubing, is an organ made up of muscle tissue that moves toxic materials (digested food) along and out of the body through wave-like motions known as peristaltic action. The distance from the cecum (the beginning of the large bowel) to the rectum is approximately 5 1/2 feet.
At the California Wellness Institute we facilitate healthy colon practices utilizing HydroSan’s “closed system,” which ensures comfort and cleanliness. The device affords a comfortable procedure while maintaining the dignity of the patient. There is no open evacuation and no offensive odors. It is therapist assisted for effectiveness, comfort and most importantly, safety.
Colon hydrotherapy is a safe, effective method of removing waste from the large intestine. By introducing filtered and temperature-regulated water into the colon, waste is softened and loosened, resulting in elimination through normal peristalsis. Colon hydrotherapy is best used in combination with adequate nutrient and fluid intake as well as exercise.
Candida albicans is a plant-like fungus that begins its life as yeast, which many people, but not all, have in their digestive systems and other mucous membranes. It is kept under control by good bacteria. It keeps bad bacteria, viruses, yeasts and fungi at bay. When intestinal overgrowth of the fungus occurs, symptoms associated with “yeast syndrome,” such as fatigue, headache and poor memory can result.
To cure the syndrome, a candida cleanse diet is recommended. The protocol, which includes no sugar, white flour, yeast and cheese, is based on the theory that these foods promote candida overgrowth.
The kidneys are the “water-management” organs and are responsible for keeping the chemistry of the blood alkaline by filtering dissolved acid wastes out of the body as well as clearing waste from the body. Kidneys also release three important hormones: erythropoietin (which stimulates the bone marrow to make red blood cells), renin (which regulates blood pressure), calcitriol (the active form of vitamin D, which helps maintain calcium for bones and for normal chemical balance in the body).
Cleansing the kidneys will promote healthy kidney function and prevent kidney stones. Kidney cleanses also help keep blood pressure in check, improve functioning of the urinary tract and bladder, boost immunity, and clear toxins from the entire body.
Liver/Gall Bladder Cleanse
Known as the “recycling-center,” the liver separates the bad chemicals from the good ones, and directs the toxins to the appropriate organ for exiting the body. If the primary organ of elimination is clogged, the liver attempts to redirect the toxins.
Cleansing the liver and gall bladder of gallstones is one of the most important and powerful tools to improve your health. To remove gallstones the liver/gall bladder cleanse involves a six-day process of cleansing and elimination. The liver, as a whole, will begin to function more efficiently soon after the first cleanse.
